We are exploring the possibility of creating a Senior Center in Oakland to serve older adults throughout our surrounding community. Before any decisions are made, we want to hear from the people who live here. This feasibility study will help us understand the needs, interests, and perspectives of local seniors and their families, while examining the opportunities and challenges associated with establishing a Senior Center in Oakland.
A Senior Center can be a welcoming place where older adults gather, meet friends, enjoy activities, share meals, learn new things, and connect with helpful resources and services. The hours, programs, and services of an Oakland Senior Center would be determined through this feasibility study and by listening to the needs and interests of our community.
Our community is changing, and we want to better understand the needs of the older adults who live here. A feasibility study gives us an opportunity to listen to the community, learn what services and activities are most needed, and examine whether a Senior Center could be developed and sustained. No decisions have been made. The purpose of this study is to gather information, listen to the community, and determine what the evidence tells us.
Your voice is an important part of this process. Whether you are a senior, a family member, a caregiver, or simply someone who cares about our community, we want to hear your thoughts. Please take a few minutes to complete our community survey and help us understand the needs, interests, and perspectives of older adults and our community.
